Scottish Woodland Skills Centre - At their purpose built training venue; a large hard-standing area, a grass activity space surrounded by woodland, and an off-grid wooden bothy, powered by a wind turbine, heated by a wood stove and built by volunteers from recycled materials, they run courses and events throughout the year, such as wood carving, knife making and chainsaw use. You will be spoiled for choice as to where to put your waders on and tackle up with the River Tay, the River Ericht and many local fisheries offering the best Atlantic Salmon and Brown Trout just waiting to be caught. Permits are required but can easily be purchased locally.

Beaver Walks

http://scottishwildbeavers.org/beaver-walks/Beavers live right on Blairgowrie's doorstep and this is your chance to go on a wild beaver tour with one of Scotland's top experts.

After being hunted to near extinction over 400 years ago, beavers have made a come back and are now flourishing in the natural habitat in Tayside and Scotland once again.

Tours take 1.5 to 2 hours and can accommodate up to 4 people at a time. The tours are FREE and all that is asked is for a small donation towards SWBG, a registered charity that promotes the beavers. The monies go towards education programmes, school visits, tours, promoting the beaver etc.

It is advised that you wear sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Snow Sports

With 22 lifts and 36 runs, Gleenshee Ski Centre has the largest variety of slopes in the UK. With the perfect mix of breathtaking scenery and diverse terrain, Glenshee is the place to test all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

With a choice of 5 marked paths which follow routes in and around the town centre, stroll down to Bluebell Woods where you can spot local deer or up Knockie Hill for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The Cateran Trail, which starts and finishes in Blairgowrie is a 64 mile walk through the Perthshire countryside and Angus Glens. The route, which follows old paths used by 17th century cattle herders, is fully sign posted and can be split into 5 stages for serious walkers.

Perthshire Big Tree Country’s multi-award winning show fuses sound and light to create an outdoor experience that will set your imagination alight.

With dazzling visuals and innovative design set against an original music score, including a new orchestral piece, explore the stunning autumn woodland setting of Faskally Wood near Pitlochry. Using the forest as a natural backdrop, you will experience a lighting show that is, quite simply, out of this world.

The Enchanted Forest is renowned to be Scotland's premier sound and light experience and attracted over 40,000 visitors in 2013.

The event celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2012, sweeping the board at a number of prestigious award ceremonies including the coveted Event Management Grand Prix, alongside the awards for Best Cultural Event and a commendation for Best Large Event at the Scottish Event Awards in 2011, and taking home the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Award for Event of the Year.
